Supplements to Support Weight Loss

You have been working on your nutrition and exercise routine but have you been wondering if there is anything else you can do to support your weight loss goals?

There are a few vitamins and supplements I recommend to help support your health and weight loss goals but none are a magic pill.

Nutrition and exercise are always the most important in weight loss but these vitamins can help support your efforts.

B vitamins

The primary functions of B Vitamins are to aid the body in metabolizing fats, carbs, proteins, and also help access stored energy found in food and are vital for a fully functioning, healthy metabolism.

Vitamin B-12 is not found in plant product so it’s important for a person following a vegan/vegetarian diet to supplement with B-12.

When choosing a B vitamin look for a B complex to be sure you are getting all of your B vitamins at the correct dosage.

Green tea extract

Amongst the sea of false marketing for weight loss products Green tea extract is one of the few weight loss marketed ingredients that has the science to back it up.

Green tea has been found to increase energy expenditure and fat oxidation, and reduce fat production and absorption.

Green tea also contains a healthy amount of caffeine, which can be beneficial for a healthy metabolism and managing weight loss.

Iron

Is a protein that provides oxygen to muscles and supports your body’s metabolism. Iron is responsible for physically transporting oxygen to all of the cells in your body, including your muscles, which helps burn more fat.

A lack of iron in your diet can lead to iron deficiency anemia, which can make you sluggish and slow down your metabolism.

Magnesium

Magnesium is necessary for energy production and many different metabolic processes in the body.

Diets with higher amounts of magnesium are associated with a significantly lower risk of diabetes, possibly because of the important role magnesium plays in the metabolism of glucose.

If you are working out a lot on a restrictive diet, try keeping a handful of nuts on hand, which contains magnesium, for quick energy boosts, and so you don’t wear out as quickly.

Vitamin D

People with low levels of Vitamin D tend to be overweight therefore having optimal levels of Vitamin D are important to support a healthy weight.

When the sun hits our bare skin it converts in our body to Vitamin D but it is hard to get our recommended dosage with just sun exposure.

Supplementing with a high quality Vitamin D is important to help support our body and its weight loss goals.
